Sovouen Chhuot

Dear Friends,

The sudden death of our friend and colleague, Sovouen, has left us all in total shock. Sovouen was not only a dedicated staff member of SeeBeyondBorders and a truly skilled teacher but he was a loving husband to Sin Sokong and dad to two young children (Phuthearoth aged 7 and Sovannareach aged 4).

In the past week Sovouen fell ill and Sokong shared with us that on the day of his death, November 25th, he was diagnosed with rabies - an unforgiving disease that resulted in his untimely passing - he was 34 years old. This tragic loss has left a profound void in our hearts most particularly for his loved ones and close friends.

Many of you will remember Savouen from his visit to Ireland in 2019. His passion for education, his zest for life, the twinkle in his eye and his unwavering positivity touched our hearts - he was a true gentleman!

A number of people have reached out in the last few days to see if we can make a contribution to Sovouen's family at this difficult time hence the setting up of this GoFundMe page. Please note that 100% of funds received will go directly to his family to support them at this heartbreakingly sad time.
