Washington Elementary 6th Grade Camping Trip!
Donation protected
Mr. Brandow's 6th grade camping trip is a well-known tradition at Washington Elementary. For the first time ever, we want to support ALL the 6th grade students at Washington in participating in this enriching tradition that is sure to be highlight of their elementary school years!
Through this campaign we hope to supplement the student led fundraising efforts (e.g., bake sales, carwashes, craft sales) already underway to ensure that all students who would like to participate can join.
Our Goal & Budget
Our goal is to fund ALL 6th grade students for a 4-day camping trip to Pinnacles National Park in April 2024. We hope to raise $400 dollars per students to cover transportation and educational programming on the camping trip for a total goal of $30,000.
$20,000 - Naturalists At Large Programming which includes all meals, tents, and enriching environmental education and outdoor activities.
$10,000 - Transportation
This crowdfunding campaign is just one of several fundraising efforts by our school community to make the camping trip happen.
About Our Trip
The trip this year will take place in Pinnacles National Park. This beautiful national park is located 2.5 hours from our school in Richmond, CA and sits along the transition between the Coast Ranges and San Joaquin Valley. In visiting Pinnacles National Park, the students will be exposed to remains of an ancient volcano, animal life, and amazing rock formations! In order to provide an enriching experience to students that goes beyond just visiting, we are contracting with an organization called Naturalists at Large. Naturalists at Large have been providing outdoor education to students in California since 1985. Their goals is to teach students to be at ease in the outdoors and help them understand the beauty and diversity our planet.
Teacher's Hopes
As educators, we hope to foster independence and social emotional growth by taking students into the outdoors. We hope that this experience will help students learn to become responsible stewards of the environment and be a culminating experience for their time at Washington Elementary.
