Help grieving family with vet bills
Donation protected
Hey y’all. My name is Brian Russo. My cat Thumper passed away suddenly on Friday November 24th, 2023. He was 5 years old. He had a urinary blockage, so I brought him to the local emergency vet. He was diagnosed with feline interstitial cystitis and admitted overnight. They successfully placed the urinary catheter to drain his bladder, and I got a call sharing this success. During the phone call to my mom to share the good news, I got another call from the vet saying that Thumper’s heart and lungs had stopped. His heart couldn’t handle the anesthesia. He was half Maine coon, and my mom and I learned the hard way that they’re predisposed to cardiac conditions. We loved him so much, he was a lion-sized presence in our lives. My mom has a giant backyard, and when we found out he was half Maine coon, we decided to try and give him as much time outside as possible. We even got him a GPS from Tractive. Even with the peace of mind that brought, I was always worried he would be hit by a car one day, or attacked by an animal. We were totally blindsided by this, the grief has been a mountain to deal with. The total cost for his care, had he survived, was estimated to be $2200. Because he passed away before the rest of the care could be administered, the bill was reduced to $1500. This is still a crushing new debt. I’m on Social Security at the moment, and my mom is retired. With this large bill and this fresh void in our lives, we could really use some help. Anything y’all can afford would be appreciated beyond words. We miss our cat dearly, and while processing this grief, dealing with financial details has simply been another worry. From me and my mom, and our great love for our best boy, our #1 copilot, thank you for reading, sharing, and donating.
