Help Honor the Life and Memory of Eddie Ayala

Donation protected
We have been processing and mourning the loss in our family of Eddie Ayala. It has been devastating and heartbreaking to hear of the news that he has left the Physical world as of Nov. 3 2023 the family was not informed until Nov. 22. It has been hard to accept that there was no chance to say goodbye. Memories of shared moments and the belief that Eddie has found peace offer a bittersweet solace. We are planning next steps in helping his spirit transcend and make his way to rest. We also hope to have a memorial in the next few months. Eddie’s sister, younger brother, and his two children, aged 19 and 23, stand as the sole family and of course the many friends that cared and considered him family. We are also consoled by the legacy of his talent as a musician with his roots being in East LA, born and raised in Boyle heights. He was an amazing vocalist, songwriter and collaborated with many artists and musicians in the Chicano/a community and beyond, beginning with Los Illegals, Oddsquad and ASCO. (More details about his work and legacy will be shared at the memorial). His energy brought so much life to any room he walked into full of fire, creative, passionate, charming and always made us laugh. He is deeply missed. We have been saddened by his long time struggle with mental health towards his later years and the family faced many challenges in being able to attain proper help as it seems our system is lacking in any real mental health support.
The family is reaching out for financial support. In addition to covering the costs from the coroner and fees included in the process of his transition we need help with costs for a memorial and celebration of his life. We also hope to work on documenting, transferring and collecting any recordings, photos, fliers and video, footage of his music and creative work. During this difficult time, any assistance is greatly appreciated as we are faced with grief of his loss.
