Donate to the Trillo Family

Hi, my name is Lanka Johnston and I'm creating this gofundme account on behalf of the Trillo Family. Many of you know them from Horizon Honors; Kyler & Chase Trillo are in 6th & 4th grades respectively. Jen works on the secondary side in the front office. Many of you have seen Eric Trillo, the paternal figure in the family with his tall stature, and with braces on his calves to help him walk.

He has Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT) Syndrome which is a neurological, degenerative disease that causes damage to the peripheral sensory and motor nerves.

In addition to having to struggle with this, Eric suffered a heart attack last year, eye surgery a few weeks ago, and just two days ago (Sat Nov 25th), he and his family were struck by a drunk driver in their car. Both kids have bruises, burns and cuts from the impact, Jen does as well in addition to a fractured rib; and Eric himself has a huge cut to the face that required several stitches, is experiencing intensive pain, and has swelling of the arms and legs just to name a few of the sustained injuries. Jen's car is totalled from the accident, & just as they were starting up their second car, that one died as well.

Needless to say, the Trillos are struggling and are in dire need of whatever the community can do to help. I know Eric felt extremely uncomfortable even asking for help, but he and Jen have seen how the community has rallied behind other families in similar predicaments, so they figured it was worth a shot to set up a gofundme drive. I know I'd need and want help in this kind of unimaginable circumstance, and I'm sure you all would too.

Furthermore, this could not have happened to nicer, kinder people. Many of you know what gentle souls the Trillos are; Jen always greets everyone with a smile and does what she can to help the Horizon Honors community. And Eric, the gentle giant, as I know him, has always been there for me in my time of need and has been so kind and welcoming to my kids. I know he's lent a hand to many others in the community, even in his precarious health condition, and he's been happy to do so. It personally pains me to see such big-hearted, benevolent people go through so much heartache and trauma.

The funds will be used for medical care, transportation costs, meals and other basic necessities. Please give what you can. Anything would go a long way.
