Hi my name is Sissy Lasiter along with my friend Crystal Bergeron have it deep in our hearts to help a special racing family. This family means so much to us and the racing community. We would like to help them in the days ahead as they will be faced with many unwanted challenges.

Fisher Melder is the 10 year old son of Jace and Philana Melder of Erath, La. He is in the 5th grade at Delcambre Elementary. Fisher is funny, athletic, smart, strong willed, big hearted, never gives up, never meets a stranger and lives life to the fullest.

Fisher began experiencing headaches over the past week along with severe pain and vomiting. On Sunday November 19, 2023 he woke up with a headache which progressed through out the day as the family was at the deer camp and had to leave due to the severity of his pain. Fisher was taken to Women’s and Children’s ER around 8:20PM. While waiting in the lobby he became really dizzy and had some symptoms the staff were concerned with so they took him back for further evaluation quickly. He had a CT scan and bloodwork done upon arrival to the back. By 9:00 PM the parents were told there was a large mass on his brain and they needed to be transported to Baton Rouge OLOL Children’s by ambulance .

Upon arrival to OLOL Children’s he had a MRI with contrast. The parents were then told he has at least 10 tumors in his brain and likely more in his spine. From the images they are pretty sure that it is Medullablastoma, but no concrete diagnosis until pathology comes back.

Fisher underwent a craniotomy to frontal lobe on November 22, 2023 where 2 masses were removed to help reduce pressure and send off to St Jude for a diagnosis. Surgery was successful and was sent home on Monday November 27, 2023. On the way home his parents received a call to be at St Jude and left out early Tuesday morning for scheduled appointments. Fisher was scheduled for another surgery on Wednesday November 29, 2023 to remove another large tumor on the cerebellum but had to be postponed until another date as he tested positive for the flu week prior and current cough.

We all know how stressful this can be financially for both parents to have the opportunity to be with their sweet boy during this difficult time . The stress also emotionally and physically as they will be away from their other children Porter and Ileigh as they travel to St Jude for treatment.

Any donation is accepted no matter how little or how big. We would love to take the financial burden off of his parents to allow them to focus on getting the treatment he needs with less worry as possible. Fisher and his family are such a loving, supportive, and fun family that would help anybody anyway they could without asking for anything in return. So let’s help this deserving family by donating to support Fisher and his family in this difficult journey.

Keep those prayers coming as we are claiming complete healing on his body and deliverance free of cancer
