Help Katie Ficocello fight cancer

Hello, my name is Kerri Jo. I am setting up this fundraiser for my sister Katie Ficocello. Katie was recently diagnosed with Stage 2A Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (Breast Cancer) that has spread to the lymph nodes. Katie's journey to start fighting cancer is literally just beginning, as she will have a port placement on December 11th, followed by her first chemotherapy treatment on December 13th. The first round of chemotherapy will be once every two weeks (lasting 2 months) followed by a second round, that will be once a week (lasting 3 months.) After the chemotherapy treatments are finished, Katie will undergo a double mastectomy with future reconstructive surgeries. Once Katie heals from surgery, she will then start radiation treatments. Katie will also have to be on an oral chemotherapy drug for 2 years after that.

This next year will be a major battle in many ways! This will not only take a toll on Katie physically, but emotional and financial burdens will be heavy for a season or two for their whole family. Katie, Anthony and their boys will be sailing in uncharted waters with many unknowns ahead! Due to the length of chemotherapy treatments followed by surgery and recovery time, Katie will be taking extended time off from work which will put a strain on their family financially. Health insurance will not fully cover all the medical expenses that will be accrued and there will be continued daily living expenses. I know it is Katie's desire to keep life as normal as possible for her, Anthony and the boys as they embark on this journey.

My hope in setting up this GoFundMe is to try and help ease some of the financial burdens Katie may face during this journey. I know there are many needs in the world but thank you for considering giving what you can to support Katie and her family.
