Janelle Nelson Memorial Fund

Its officially been 24 hours and this isn’t any easier to write. My beautiful niece unexpectedly passed away at home yesterday after a brief illness. This 1000% should not have happened. Her death was preventable. She visited multiple medical providers on numerous occasions and attempted to advocate for herself. Besides this unimaginable loss and the trauma we’ve all suffered as a result, we strongly believe her death was the result of egregious medical negligence and we are in the process of seeking legal counsel while also making the arrangements to celebrate her life and lay her to rest. I humbly ask for love, support and respect for my family, especially her parents as we navigate this painful new reality. Donations will go towards memorial costs and legal services so that money won’t be a barrier to thoroughly investigating how this tragedy happened. Black women deserve high quality health care services. We deserve to be believed the FIRST time. Our pain is real. We are forever changed.
