Wrentham Elementary Playground Project

We are writing to ask for your financial assistance to support the Delaney Preschool Playground Project at the Wrentham Public Schools to help us reach our goal of raising $260,000.

We are very proud of the playgrounds at the Wrentham Public Schools, but for several years we have recognized the existing preschool playground structure falls short of meeting the needs of all children- including those with special needs. Our preschool program is part of the Delaney Elementary School and has become an integral part of the community by providing inclusive learning opportunities for early learners (ages 3-5). The preschool playground is 25 years old and is the only one in town designed specifically for early learners.

This is our opportunity to create a safe, accessible, age and developmentally-appropriate, inclusive playground that is welcoming, engaging, and enriching for young students of all abilities in the Wrentham community. The Playground Committee is chaired by Delaney Principal Kathleen Maloney and Director of Student Services Ellen White and was created to strategize how we can meet the needs of our youngest students, with a particular emphasis on our students who presently have limited options for accessibility and inclusivity.

The committee recently voted unanimously on playground design specifications, and we hope to build the new playground during the summer of 2024. The new playground will greatly expand the accessible recreational opportunities for our students, creating a state-of-the-art motor skills and social experience for the many students and young community members who will use it daily.

We are reaching out to you as a valued member of the local community as we know that maintaining a strong public school system in Wrentham benefits everyone. Our schools contribute significantly to the excellent quality of life we are fortunate to have in Wrentham.
