Support Jason’s kidney transplant recovery!

Hey everyone! My name is Holly. I am Jason’s girlfriend. Jason and I have pretty much known each other our whole lives….but it wasn’t until 2 years ago that we decided to join together and become a family.

Now I knew walking into our relationship that Jason had health problems…but that didn’t stop me from falling in love with the most gentle soul I know. Jason was born with a rare disorder called Alport’s syndrome. In men Alport’s will affect the nerves…sight….hearing….and the glomeruli of the kidney. Jason began showing signs of kidney failure after he graduated high school that put him on dialysis for 5+ years until he had his first kidney transplant in 2011. That kidney lasted 8 years until it started to fail in December of 2019 when Jason was placed back on dialysis again for kidney failure.

Until a week ago, Jason was doing dialysis 3x a week while continuing to have a relationship with me and be a father to our 3 kids. It hasn’t always been easy….but there wasn’t too many volleyball….baseball….soccer….softball games that he missed. He still went to every event for the kids….picked them up from school….cooked them dinner….took them to church on the weekends. He and I still watched all the football games and had date nights.

He still went fishing. And last Sunday….while out on the St. Clair river….he got the call. A kidney that was a match. God had answered our prayers.

So why start a gofundme do you ask? Well a lot of things seemed to change within the span of a few days. Jason’s surgery and all the medical bills that come with it. Everything in our house seemed to start falling apart and needing to be replaced. And while I have always worked a ton of hours to keep up with everything….I was placed on long term unpaid leave to take care of Jason.

This is not asking for a handout. Jason and I are the last 2 people on the planet that would ask people for help….we are usually the ones that would take the shirts off our back to help others in need. But it would most definitely help put our family on track to start a new chapter in our lives….and give the kids a beautiful Christmas.
