Help Sandy Regain Independence After Brain Surgery

Hello friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

We're reaching out on behalf of Sandy Garay, who experienced a life changing event - a brain bleeding from a right frontal AVM in May 2023 - just 24 hours after her Master's degree ceremony at Rotterdam Business School . The surgery, was finally planned for 9th November, and initially was for 8 hours, but became a life threatening situation as a vein ruptured making her loose 2,5 litres of blood from her brain, leading to an extremely critical situation, and many more hours of surgery.

On her words: "there were 20% chances something like this would happen and her worst nightmare came true". Nevertheless Sandy is blessed and grateful to be alive, she is now half-paralyzed, unable to walk or use her left side. Her active lifestyle has been significantly impacted.

Sandy is a remarkable woman—a true warrior, an independent spirit, and a brilliant mind. Now, Sandy is embarking on a journey of recovery, relying on intensive rehabilitation and therapies to regain her strength, mobility, and independence. As an athlete and leader, there is nothing that she would love more than to play again on her beloved volleyball team!

We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to support Sandy during this critical time. The funds raised will directly contributed to covering the costs of essential therapies, medical insurance monthly costs, and necessary equipment to aid in her recovery journey. As well, her mother, Claudia is helping her from Colombia, and needs support too while in the country. Sandy and her mom don't have any income in the country.
