Amanda's Army

Hello, my name is Dawn. I am raising money to help my daughter, Amanda, in her fight against breast cancer. Any of you who know Amanda, know just how hard this is of her to put her business out for others to know. But this is different.

On October 27th 2023, at 28 years old and weeks before her 29th birthday, Amanda was diagnosed with Stage 2 invasive duct carcinoma with a triple negative grade 3 tumor. In the following weeks she had multiple tests and imaging and within 3 weeks, her tumor had doubled in size, it had metastasized to the lymph nodes, and was increased to Stage 3. Due to the type of tumor Amanda has there’s only one good course of treatment. Chemotherapy and immunotherapy, surgery, and then either more chemotherapy or radiation. The current treatment regime is 24 weeks of chemo/immunotherapy where she is going every week for infusions for the first 12 weeks and every 3 weeks for the following 12 weeks.

With all of this ahead of her, this diagnosis has many challenges including facing a financial burden as she and her husband, John, are needing to take time off work for appointments. Amanda has chosen to forego freezing any eggs, as she has a beautiful 4-year-old son, and as she says he is her “one hit wonder”. But even with not needing the money for that, the treatments are going to be a substantial out-of-pocket cost. As well as when it comes to surgery, she has already chosen to do a double mastectomy, which is about 4-6 weeks for recovery time. If you know Amanda, you know she doesn’t like to ask for help – so I am doing it for her!
