Help Support Cameron's Battle With Brain Cancer

Hi everyone and thank you for taking the time to read about our GoFundMe. My family and I are creating this page as a space for friends, family, and strangers to help provide financial support for Cameron during his battle with brain cancer. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to raise funds to help pay hefty medical bills Cameron has received (and will continue receiving) for surgery, diagnostics, and various medical treatments. In addition to covering medical expenses, we hope to raise enough money to help Cameron and his wife Maria cover their travel costs and living expenses. Hopefully, this financial relief will help allow them to focus on Cam’s treatment and recovery.

For those who are unaware, on October 26th, a lemon-sized tumor was discovered on the surface of Cameron’s parietal lobe. Two weeks after the discovery, brain surgeons completely removed the mass while also identifying a smaller, inoperable tumor in his frontal lobe. A few days later, the biopsy results confirmed our fears and Cameron was diagnosed with brain cancer - an astrocytoma. There is a treatment plan in place for Cameron that entails six weeks of daily radiation and chemotherapy and several subsequent rounds of chemo in the following months.

We are completely and utterly devastated at the diagnosis. For those of you who know Cameron, I don’t need to tell you how impressive and smart he is, how fun he is to be around, or how he positively impacts everyone around him. You already know these things.

For those who don’t know Cameron, here’s a short bio:

Cam is a 4th year PhD candidate at the University of Indiana studying Chemistry. His research entails using group 6 metals to make CO2 into formic acid using light. In layman’s terms, Cam is a smartypants. This may sound intimidating, but it’s his humbleness regarding his intellect that makes it truly enjoyable and exciting to listen to him talk about chemistry. When he talks about his research, his eyes light up and he speaks a little faster as a result of his passion. In addition to being a scientist, Cam is also an amazing chef. He’s always trying new, fancy recipes and exploring new flavors! From whipping up carrot hummus to creating his own rubs for filet mignon, Cam does it all. His creativity extends beyond the kitchen; he also has a knack for graphic design, videography, and music. Cameron is such a sweet, caring, funny, and young soul. Every conversation with him is a gift that radiates light and we are all so incredibly lucky to have him in our lives.
