Help feed the senior dogs at Bashan Dog Shelter!
Donation protected
Update: Thank you to the many who have opened their hearts and so generously donated to our cause! We appreciate all of your help. The dogs are doing okay; some are more affected by the noises than others, some have gotten used to it and some are still struggling. Janet has taken in a few dogs that have been found or abandoned in the last two months. In general, it's still very tough but the mentality here is to make it work and that's what happening. Your donations will be a huge help to us in ensuring that we can continue our care during these difficult times. We only have a tiny bit left to make it to our goal, and we believe we'll get there; in the meantime we are so grateful to all those who have helped us! Thank you so very much!!
Bashan Dog Shelter is located in Northern Israel. It is home to 57 dogs, ages 6-15. The majority of the dogs have lived at the shelter for their entire lives and will spend all of their days at our senior sanctuary.
Our non-profit, no kill shelter has been serving the dogs of the Galilee since 1994. We have saved, adopted out and provided a stable environment to thousands of dogs in those years. We are now in the early stages of closing, remaining open to care for the dogs we have already promised to keep safe.
During these difficult times, that promise is getting harder to keep. Artillery fire rings out, rocket sirens sound and food is getting scarce. Volunteers and workers are also in short supply as most of our area has been evacuated. It is difficult to source food for the dogs and buying dry food has become very expensive.
As a non-profit with a very limited budget we are finding ourselves struggling. We ask for your help in raising funds to be able to continue to buy food for the dogs who depend on us. Anything else that we are able to raise will also go to medical costs. We have never let them down before and we are trying to do everything possible for them.
These are trying times and there are many in need. That includes these innocent dogs whom we love so much. The workers we have left put themselves at risk every day in order to continue to care for our dogs - people like Janet Hansen who won't leave the dogs no matter how dire the situation. We want to be able to help her to provide the level of care that the dogs require, despite the trying circumstances we find ourselves in.
I, Rachel, have volunteered at Bashan Dog Shelter since 2012. It has always been my happy place, where I found my passion for rescue and renewed my love for dogs. I have seen so many dogs pass through these gates, often knowing that they would never leave. I, and so many other volunteers, have given so much in order to let these dogs know that they might not have their own home but they have our hearts.
I cannot stand to see these poor creatures so scared and confused. While I can't fix that for them, I can at least make sure that they have their basic needs met and that means raising funds in order to continue to feed them. While I haven't been there physically to help, I can do my part by helping to raise awareness and raise money. All donations will be sent to the shelter account.
We appreciate any help you can give. We wish for better days for our pups and for all who are affected by this situation.
The full story of each of our dogs, as well as those who have crossed the bridge in recent years, can be found on our English Facebook page: Bashan Dog Shelter. We would love for you to know more about each of them!
