Hi everyone, my name is Raegan. I am Amelia’s fiancée.
On May 29th Amelia suffered a Global Traumatic Brain Injury as the result of a severe skateboarding accident. Amelia is currently in the ICU fighting for her life.
A Global head injury means that every part of Amelia’s brain, white and gray matter suffered some amount of damage. The Intracranial Pressure (ICP) in her brain is too high and unstable. Any movement or stimulation increases her pressure therefore she has recently been put in a medically induced coma and given a paralytic. We cannot hold her hand, touch her face, or even talk to her right now which is unbearable.
Due to COVID-19, like so many others, Amelia was laid off from her full-time job resulting in the loss of her medical insurance and other benefits. Luckily she was able to go back to work for her past employer, however, it’s a very small business that isn’t able to offer benefits.
Amelia’s medical bills and future rehabilitation will be exorbitant In the short term, my goal is to be able to maintain the apartment we share together so she has a loving, familiar, home to return to. The longer-term goal is to afford the intense rehabilitation Amelia will require at a brain trauma facility.
Amelia has already endured great challenges in her life including making the decision to transition from male to female. She's her mother's child, a sibling, best friend, future daughter-in-law, artist, a kind gentle soul, and the love of my life!
We may never be able to repay the kindness and generosity of whatever donation you are able to give, but we will never forget and will pay it forward one day.
