Help Support Our Mom in Her Fight Against Metastatic Breast Cancer
On January 15, 2024, our world changed forever. Our mom, Christie Watson, was on her way to work when she stopped at the emergency room, struggling to breathe and in excruciating pain. She thought it was pneumonia. Instead, a CT scan revealed a devastating reality—tumors in her breast, lungs, liver, and bones.
The next three weeks were a whirlwind of doctor’s appointments, tests, and waiting. Then, the biopsy results confirmed our worst fears: HER2-, ER+ metastatic breast cancer. The cancer had already spread from the meninges of her brain to the bones in her legs.
Now, we are facing the long, grueling road of targeted immunotherapy, hormone-blocking therapy, and radiation to her skull, with the possibility of needing chemotherapy in the future. The fight ahead is daunting, but our mom is a warrior. She is choosing to fight not just for herself, but for us—her three daughters, who love her more than anything.
✨ Who She Is ✨
Our mom is the kind of person who lights up every room she walks into. She has always been our rock, our safe place, and our biggest cheerleader. Despite everything, she still finds ways to make us laugh, to remind us that life is still beautiful, and that love is stronger than cancer.
She is the proud mother of:
Mikahla (25), a third-year medical student at FIU HWCOM in Miami, FL, who dreams of becoming a doctor just like the ones fighting for our mom now.
Brooklyn (17), a high school senior at Bradley Central High School, who is set to start college at UTC in the fall to pursue nursing—wanting to help others like our mom and grandmothers, Cheryl and Sheila.
Ayla (7), a second grader at Black Fox Elementary, who keeps our home filled with laughter and joy, always striving to be the life of the party.
✨ Why We Need Your Help ✨
Our mom was uninsured at the time of her diagnosis but has recently gained Medicaid coverage. Unfortunately, her insurance does not cover all of her treatments, medications, and the many travel expenses associated with her care. She is also unable to work due to the pain and time demands of treatment. Our superhero, our Grammy, Cheryl, is bearing the bulk of the expenses, travel, and emotional needs of our family.
We are asking for support to help cover:
✅ Uncovered medical treatments and medications
✅ Travel expenses for treatment and appointments
✅ Daily living costs as she is unable to work
✨ How You Can Make a Difference ✨
Any contribution, no matter how big or small, will ease the financial burden on our family and allow our mom to focus on what matters most—fighting this cancer. If you are unable to donate, please share this campaign with others who might be able to help. Every share, every prayer, every kind word means the world to us.
We are holding onto hope, to each other, and to the belief that brighter days are ahead. Thank you for your love, kindness, and support during this unimaginable time.
With love and gratitude,
Mikahla, Brooklyn, and Ayla
