Sharon Stroehl

On Saturday afternoon Sharon collapsed and was brought by ambulance to Essentia Health in Fargo. It was found that she had an aortic dissection and was told she would likely not survive. Sharon was placed on comfort measures and surrounded by her loved ones. While saying goodbyes, a miracle happened and a physician not associated with Sharon's case came upon her file. He spoke with the physicians at Mayo Clinic and it was decided that they would accept her. Because of Sharon's condition she had to take another ambulance to the airport where she was then loaded on a medical jet and flown to Rochester, MN. Today she endured a 6-hour surgery and is now on a ventilator. The next 24 hours are critical as it will give her doctors a better idea of Sharon's future. Although Sharon has defied medical odds and proven to be a very strong woman, she has a long road ahead.
