Meet Husna. As a REEF Ranger, she rescues and restores coral reefs. In 2019, before training with the REEFolution Foundation, Husna was unable to swim. Today, she has made more than 200 coral restoration dives—and still counting! REEF Rangers like Husna restore the coral reefs, re-educate local communities, and support marine scientists in the critical fight of coral conservation.

 

 

 

Our goal through GoFundMe

 

REEFolution can’t save coral reefs on its own. We rely on the generosity of donors to help conserve the coral reefs and keep our ocean healthy. Upon achieving this crucial goal of 50,000 EUR, REEFolution will be able to train 5 new ocean ambassadors (our so-called ‘REEF Rangers’) to go out and rescue our coral reefs. Each one of them follows the 3-month REEF Ranger program and gets (at least) a 2-year full-time job in Kenya.

 

Coral reefs are the most biodiverse ecosystems on our planet. 25% of all marine life relies on coral reefs, making them integral to the survival of both people and the planet.

 

Approximately 50% of the world's coral reefs have already died. If we continue to do nothing, 95% could be gone by 2050. What would this mean, exactly? Without coral reefs, millions of species will soon become extinct. Sea turtles will lose their homes, dolphins will have no source of food, and hundreds of millions of people will lose their key source of income. Our generation could soon be witnessing the full-blown extinction of the world's most biodiverse ecosystems. How much more proof do we need before we’re willing to take action?

● Cover 5 REEF Ranger year salaries / 2400x day salaries: 6 EUR per day = 14,400 EUR total;

● Cover 5 REEF Ranger training packages: 1,000 EUR each = 5,000 EUR total;

● Cover material costs to restore 1250 M2 of reef: 30,600 EUR total;
