I am a person that does my best to understand others and their circumstances. I understand that life is different for all of us. Some of us are fortunate, while other's never heard of the meaning. Life is a matter of perception. Though at times we may see our current situation as an all time low, there's always someone that has it worse. The simple blessing's we fail to appreciate may be the exact blessing's someone else prays for. With this understanding I decided to start this campaign. I want to bring awareness to the less fortunate.
I got off the bus one morning around 4:46am and noticed a homeless man sleeping on the floor shivering. It was extremely cold and all I could think about was how hurt I felt for him. As I continued on my way walking to work, I saw several other homeless people in the same situation. All of them were doing their best to keep warm. From sleeping between the doorways of businesses, to sleeping in boxes, they did whatever they could to constrict the cold.
By the time I reached work the desire to help came to me. I thought to myself, "What could I do to help." This is when the idea came to me. I could raise money to purchase sleeping bags and give them out.
I posted my idea on faceback and got very good feedback. I even received some donations based just off of the idea. With the donations I received along with adding some of my own funds, I was able to purchase 12 sleeping bags to start. This put a small idea and urge to help into action.
With El Nino approaching I would like to purchase as many sleeping bags as possible and get them on the streets. This is important to me because I'm aware that we all are a step away from becoming homeless. All it takes is that one misfortune, whatever it may be.
So please, I ask for your help. I've gotten it started, now I need you to help keep it going. Help me create a warmer winter for the homeless.
