Bucks for Buck

A huge thank you to all who have assisted in covering Buck’s medical bill. With donations from so many along with what the family could contribute, Buck’s surgery has been paid in full and he is successfully resting and recouping at home. When times are hard, our faith is strong. When faith is tested – our hope holds fast. We thank and are so grateful for all the friends who have joined us in supporting Sarah’s health journey. Sarah has overcome much in life. She has battled lymphoma, and heart issues caused by Covid and has an ongoing life-long condition called Adrenal Insufficiency (AI). This condition causes her to go into shock when the cortisol her body should produce to fight infection or life threatening illness is low or absent. This requires an emergency injection of cortisol to prevent devastating consequences. It is a tricky and scary balance.

But Sarah has another superhero in her life. Her hero is Buck the Sheepadoodle Medical Alert Service Dog. Buck has been trained to alert when Sarah’s cortisol levels are falling so she can quickly be given her emergency dose of cortisol to prevent her from going into shock. This amazing dog has alerted Sarah’s family and prevented catastrophic outcomes on many occasions. Buck and Sarah’s bond is unlike anything we have ever seen and we are so grateful for the life-saving difference he has made in her life.

Several days ago, Buck became very sick and had to be admitted to the local animal hospital. After an expansive workup, it was determined that Buck had an intestinal obstruction caused from a toy he had swallowed. Immediate (and expensive) surgery was required to save his life.

The cost of this surgery has been overwhelming for Sarah’s family who already struggle with medical expenses for Sarah’s many health issues. We are hoping that there are those who can come alongside this family and help to cover over $6,000 in Buck’s surgery cost so this furry superhero can come home and help battle Supergirl Sarah’s ongoing fight with medical issues that this sweet little chief should never have to battle alone. Buck’s surgery has saved his life – so he can continue to save Sarah’s.
