Help Little Joey Fight Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

This is our brave little boy, Joey. He is the light of our lives — full of love, innocence, and the sweetest smile. But Joey has been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a devastating and progressive muscle-wasting disease that slowly takes away a child’s ability to walk, play, and eventually even breathe on their own.

As if that wasn’t enough, Joey also faces many other battles. He has Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CDLS), and to our knowledge, there is no other child in the world recorded to have both Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and CDLS together. This makes Joey’s condition incredibly rare and extremely complex. Despite everything, he continues to fight with unbelievable strength and courage.

Right now, Joey is in hospital and is expected to spend another six months there. When he finally gets to come home, he will need an extensive care package in place to keep him safe. The doctors have advised that Joey’s living space should be all on one level, which means we will need to build an extension to our home to meet his medical and mobility needs. This is a huge and costly challenge for us as a family.

There is currently no cure for Joey’s conditions, and as they progress, he will need more and more specialized equipment just to live safely and comfortably. Things like wheelchairs, hoists, breathing support, hospital beds, and other medical aids are essential — but sadly, funding for these life-saving and life-improving resources is extremely limited.

We are doing everything we can to give Joey the best quality of life, but as parents, we are struggling to keep up with the overwhelming costs. Every penny we have goes into his care, yet it still isn’t enough. The financial strain is immense, and we are desperately reaching out for help.

Your support can make a world of difference.

It can mean the equipment Joey needs to breathe safely at night.

It can mean mobility aids so he doesn’t miss out on experiences every child should have.

It can mean a safe, accessible home where he can live with dignity after leaving hospital.

We know times are hard for everyone, but if you can donate — no matter how big or small — you will be helping Joey directly. If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this page so more people can hear his story.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us in Joey’s fight. With your kindness and generosity, we can give our little boy the care, comfort, and love he deserves.
