Our sweet daughter Layla was recently diagnosed with leukemia, and our world changed overnight.

Layla is full of life, curiosity, and love. At only four, she should be spending her days playing, laughing, and discovering the world around her. Instead, she is bravely facing a battle no child should ever have to endure. Even through the fear and uncertainty, she continues to show incredible strength and courage that inspires everyone around her.

Since September, Layla had been complaining on and off about pain in her legs. At first, we thought it might be growing pains, something many children experience. But the pain never fully went away.

In February, everything changed. Her leg pain became suddenly and severely worse. She was crying day and night and, at times, could barely walk. Seeing our little girl in that much pain was absolutely heartbreaking, and we knew we needed answers.

We took Layla to our family doctor, who ordered bloodwork. Later that night, at 2:30 in the morning, we received a phone call that no parent ever wants to get. We were told to take Layla to the emergency room immediately.

From that moment on, everything moved very quickly. We were transported to Stollery Children's Hospital for further testing and specialized treatment.

It was there that our lives changed forever. Layla was diagnosed with leukemia.

She has begun chemotherapy, a long and exhausting treatment process filled with hospital stays, difficult side effects, and many unknowns ahead. We are by her side every step of the way, doing everything we can to comfort and support her through this journey.

Our family is facing not only the emotional weight of Layla’s diagnosis, but also significant financial hardship. My husband was laid-off from his job in February and he was in the process of starting his own business. His plans were cut short when Layla became a cancer patient. With no steady income and the growing costs of medical care, transportation, and daily living expenses, we are struggling to keep up. Curtis will be driving long hours every week to support Layla and also make sure that our seven year old daughter, Blair, can still go to school and have a stable home life.

We are humbly asking for your support to help us focus on Layla’s health and recovery. Donations will go toward her medical treatments, travel to and from the hospital, and basic necessities for our family during this incredibly difficult time.

If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing Layla’s story and keeping her in your thoughts and prayers. Your kindness, support, and compassion mean more to us than we can express.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with Layla and our family.

With love,
Layla’s family
