Hi my name is Anita I am trying to raise money for MATES a mental health support group run by Dave Chase by not drinking any alcholol for 365 days.
I started on Boxing day and will continue until next year until my 365 days are up and hopefully will feel so good I won't ever want to drink again. Just to make things clear I have not been advised to stop but as my friends know I like the odd glass or three of vino and this will be a challenge for me!
I will be contributing £1 a day until I finish and if anyone can donate, whether it be £1 or more, I would be so grateful as would MATES.
Above is my daughter Aliya who suffered mental health problems from a teenager on and off until she took her life in 2007. I've always wanted to do something in her name to raise awareness and money for a worthy cause and with the help of her dad, sisters and son Luca we thought MATES would be a perfect choice.
Mates was started by Dave Chase, Aliyas friend from school, Dave has helped no end of people with mental health problems, grief, suicidal thoughts by simply meetings in parks for walks, pub meet ups for a chat, phone calls and even a football team.
All the efforts and activities Mates provide cost money and time, so this my contribution to help them, help others.
