My name is Sarah and I have had the honour of rescuing Charlie. Charlie was found in the middle of the street, unable to move. Upon finding her she was brought to an emergency care animal lhospital where she was weighed to be less than 1lb despite being 4.5 months old. Charlie was given IV fluids for severe dehydration, and received treatment for an upper respiratory infection as well as flees and ear mites. After gaining some strength, Charlie was still unable to walk. After X-rays and extensive lab work, Charlie was diagnosed with Vitamin D Dependant Type 1 Rickets. Treatment has required daily doses of pain medication, Vitamin D, Calcium and laxatives. She requires frequent vet visits and weekly lab work. Two days ago Charlie was found with a severely prolapsed bowel and required emergency surgery. Charlie now requires 6 medications daily. Since her rescue approx 8 weeks ago, Charlie medical bills have exceeded $2000. Because of Charlie's chronic diagnosis she will continue to require extensive medical care for the rest of her life. If you wish to contribute to Charlie's medical care, all funds will be used to pay for her medical and medication expensesAny donation is greatly appreciated!
