On Thursday morning, April 24, my father Gonzalo Dionicio, suffered a cardiac arrest and was immediately placed on life support. Despite the doctors’ efforts, my father was declared brain dead shortly after.

He came to the States over 20 years ago and always worked very hard to give us a good life. He was the kind of person who did everything for everyone, no matter what he was going through. To some, he seemed very serious, but he loved to joke around and be sarcastic with everyone. No matter what challenges he faced, he always helped others and cared deeply for his family!

My family is heartbroken by this sudden loss. In honoring our family’s wish for him, we would like to have our father be laid to rest in his hometown in Mexico—surrounded by the land and people he loved. We are humbly reaching out for support to help cover the funeral expenses and the costs of transporting him back to Mexico.
