PLEASE HELP ELKE GET THE SURGERY SHE NEEDS!

The four-month-old puppy was abandoned along with her mama and 5 siblings in a very rural area of North Florida. Paws agreed to take the whole family, making sure they received veterinarian care; including spay/neuter surgeries, microchips, dewormings and vaccinations. Recently, Paws was able to adopt out all of Elke's family, including her mama! Elke's adoptive family had a trip planned, so Elke had to wait a few more days before she could go to her new home. Unfortunately, before Elke could officially be adopted, she fractured her knee!

How Elke actually damaged her knee is currently unknown, accidents happen.  Our veterinarian did state however that this type of injury is seen more in younger active dogs while their growth platelets are still open.

To learn what needed to be done to help the puppy heal, PAWS took Elke to our veterinarian and orthopedic surgeon, where X-rays determined that the puppy would require a surgical pin to keep the bone in place while it healed.
This is a major surgery that requires a lot of resources, and PAWS's minimum quote for the surgery is $1844. This surgery is more than Paws' monthly budget for offsite veterinary care!

To help ensure that Elke gets the surgery and care she needs, PAWS asks for donations to help pay the pup's medical bills. PAWS is eager to get Elke on the road to recovery, especially after experiencing what a sweet puppy she already is under such challenging circumstances!

Elke's surgery is scheduled for Thursday, March 31st.  We will be updating Elke's story and pictures post-op.
