Bryce Strong

After what we thought was a nagging hip injury sustained at the end of the baseball season, we took Bryce into the doctor to have it checked out. July 16th we received word from Bryce's pediatrician that they suspected he had a cancerous tumor on his pelvis. After testing and a lot of waiting, we received life changing news of an official diagnosis on July 30 of a Chondroblastic Osteosarcoma. He will undergo intensive chemotherapy and possible radiation/surgery in the next 6-12 months. He has 2 weeks under his belt already where he is admitted to the hospital while receiving chemotherapy. We are thankful for his medical team at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento where he is receiving the best care possible. We are hoping and praying that his treatment attacks his cancer cells and helps him achieve remission as soon as possible. #brycestrong    -Jenni Bazor (Bryce's mom)

Bryce has been my best friend since our first day of kindergarten. Bryce and I were on the same t-ball team too. We have always loved hanging out together whether it be going to sporting events, going to the park to play catch or playing frisbee in the street after school, which of course always ended up on a neighbor's roof. My favorite time with Bryce is just sitting in the same room cracking jokes and playing video games with each other. Being best friends with Bryce has its challenges too. He has wicked sarcastic jabs and he constantly tries to steal the front seat from me every day after middle school, but it’s his determination to piss me off that makes me love him the most. The Bazor family is my second home. Every time I am invited over to Bryce’s, I am always offered a place at the table, even though I already filled up on Chips Ahoy or Nutter Butters. I have played baseball for Jimmy practically my whole life and I’ve loved every minute of it from Single A to Axemen batting practice to seeing how far Jimmy could hit us fly balls to even running sticks. I still remember Jenni picking me up to go to school every morning and getting excited to listen to the 106.5 talk show to make fun of the weird contestant’s answers. The Bazors are my family and I want to thank them for all they have done by doing all that I can.      -Jack Bolton (friend)

I have known Bryce since elementary school, but we became closer in middle school. He is the most energetic friend I know and is always looking out for others and doing what's best for the team or group, not for himself. His presence to me is everything whether we're talking about sports, going to games, playing baseball, or reciting lines from Napoleon Dynamite. Bryce and I have been on many baseball teams, grinding it out together and not knowing what comes next. Bryce is always able to adapt to new situations just like he and all of us will for the next several months. Bryce has been very confident and hopeful throughout this month of August and told me that it's just another grind in life. The Bazor family has always been there for us and we are there for them. Mr. Bazor's motto has always been about Team. Hustle. Pride. and playing every game like it's your last. He has given me many life lessons that not only relate to baseball, but every day life. Whenever I am invited over to the Bazor's, they are always welcoming to me and my buddies. Mrs. Bazor and Bryce's little sister, Peyton, will ask what they can do for me when I walk in the door and I am so appreciative of that. This was such an unfortunate incident at a bad time, but we will all get through this together!! Love you B!                                -Nico Horning (friend)

Bryce Bazor is the type of young man you want to coach. All he does is just work hard. Never complains but strives to be better. He would be ready to contribute anyway he could for the team. His parents have instilled in him that to get something, you need to work for it, no complaints. All I know is that he's determined now to beat this. He's focused. The outpouring of support for Bryce and the Bazor's is great and please keep it going. They are a wonderful family.       -Todd Melton (ORHS baseball coach)
