More information about Crohn's & Colitis UK: Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis are the two main forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, affecting more than 500,000 people in the UK. Yet it is largely a hidden disease, and one that causes stigma, fear and isolation, its thought that many people with the condition go undiagnosed and suffer in silence.
Hi,
My name is Josh and I live with Crohn's disease. During the middle of the year 2023, I was diagnosed with Crohn's in Southampton Hospital. I started a liquid diet for 6 weeks and slowly started to get better, managing to cope with solid food and starting to gain weight. However in November 2023 , I started to feel pain again and was rushed into Basingstoke hospital. I was then transferred to Southampton where I under-went a procedure. Later on they figured out I started to develop sepsis so I was rushed down for an emergency surgery where I had 30 cm of small bowel removed and then got a stoma bag put on me. This was a 4 week process in hospital, however it was worth it as I am now much better and feel like a new man. Due to this, my friends and I have chosen Crohn's and Colitis to try and raise money for them through A 70k Walk and Camp.
