Hi everyone,

This is Andrew. It's been a rough couple of months. I’m facing something I never expected at 43 — a diagnosis of intermediate-risk prostate cancer. After weeks of testing, scans and a biopsy, the doctors advise me that my best course of action is to have robotic surgery to remove my prostate.

While that's pretty scary, the good news is that the cancer is localized, and removal (if everything goes well) could mean curing the cancer.

The difficult part on top of everything else is the cost. I’m currently living in Jakarta, Indonesia (where I've been working as a teacher and English editor for the last few years) and while I’m grateful for the care I’ve received so far, a lot of my expenses are entirely out-of-pocket (although my work is reimbursing the cost of some of it). I've also just learned that the robotic surgery I will need is not available here so I will need to travel to either nearby Malaysia or preferably Singapore to get treatment. Between the biopsy, consultations, scans, and now travel and surgery, the financial pressure is real and growing fast.

I'm trying to raise $15,000+ to cover:

Fees to visit a fertility clinic (since there's a chance I won't be able to have children after the surgery)

Travel to Singapore or Malaysia

Hospital and surgeon fees for robotic prostatectomy

Post-operative recovery and medication

Follow-up PSA testing and imaging

I'm not used to asking for help in this way. But right now, I need to. I finally feel like I'm in a good place in my life, in a great relationship with a great job, and I want to beat this, heal fully, and get back to life stronger. Please help me to do so.
