Hi, my name is Steph and I’m reaching out on behalf of my daughter, Bailey, and my 2-month-old granddaughter, Aria. A week ago, Bailey woke up to Aria not acting quite like herself, and she suddenly became unresponsive. Bailey believed it could have been a seizure and she called 911. They went by EMS to St. Rita's, and when they got there, doctors were still struggling to get the seizure under control. In an attempt to stop Aria from seizing, doctors sedated her. However, when they intubated her, she aspirated, and it got into her lungs. Aria was life-flighted to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus. At that point, it became a matter of not just treating her for seizing, but also treating her for her lungs failing. Aria's little body was shutting down, and after having exhausted almost all other options and not being successful at getting her stable, ECMO (life support) was mentioned. She suddenly started taking tiny steps of progress and showed the doctors that she was fighting to get better. She has amazed her doctors, nurses, and all of us. Aria is currently still in the hospital fighting for her life, and Bailey has been by her side every day doing everything she can to support her. They are expecting recovery to take several more weeks, assuming she makes a full turnaround. While Aria is progressing, she is still in critical condition. She has been under paralysis and is still on a ventilator.
As a mom of five, being with Aria in the hospital means Bailey is away from her other children, and the financial burden is overwhelming. We’re asking for any help toward helping Bailey cover emergency expenses like medical needs, travel, meals, and caring for her other kids while she’s at the hospital.
We know there is power in prayer, and many way beyond our imagination have been praying hard, and it's working. We appreciate each and every one of you!!
Any support—whether it’s a donation, a prayer, or sharing this will mean the world to our family. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
