Help Deli Fresh Get Back on Its Feet

For more than 35 years, Deli Fresh has been part of the Charleston, West Virginia, community. Established in 1990 by David, his mother Mary, and his wife Ruth Anne, Deli Fresh has always been a true family business.

Over the years, that family business grew into a family legacy. David and Ruth Anne’s daughter, Brieanna, grew up with Deli Fresh as part of her life, and when she married Adam, he joined the family and eventually stepped alongside them in carrying the business forward.

What began with David, Mary, and Ruth Anne has now continued into another generation, serving generations of customers throughout the Charleston community.

This week, that legacy was hit by devastating flash flooding. Approximately five feet of water flooded Deli Fresh, destroying the restaurant, equipment, inventory, and the livelihood of the family who has poured so much into it over the years.

The damage is overwhelming, and the family is now facing an uncertain future as they begin to figure out what comes next. There are still many questions about whether they will be able to rebuild at the current location, given its location in a flood plain, or if relocating the business may ultimately be their best option. After more than 35 years in the same place, there are a lot of unknowns right now, and they are taking things one step at a time as they work to determine the path forward.

We’re asking friends, family, longtime customers, and the Charleston community to come together and help Deli Fresh and the family behind it get through this incredibly difficult time. Every donation, no matter the size, will help give them a little breathing room as they clean up, replace what was lost, and work toward finding a way forward.

If Deli Fresh has ever fed you, welcomed you, made you laugh, or simply been a familiar part of your life, please consider giving—and sharing this fundraiser with someone who knows and loves this special family business.

The initial goal is $35,000 as the family begins assessing the damage and figuring out what comes next. And as more information becomes available, the fundraising goal may be adjusted to reflect the needs.
