35 & Going Blind

My best friend Lisette Rivera is one of the strongest people I know. She's the type of friend that hears you mention you need diapers and even though she may not have the extra money she will make it happen. That's why I'm writing this. I feel helpless right now. She is a wonderful mother of 3 amazing boys and 1 beautiful little girl. She's got an amazing husband that now has to work 7 days a week to take care of his family. Up until recently Lisette was also working hard to take care of their family. On November 18th Lisette woke up and was unable to see. She has always had poor eyesight but when she opened her eyes she had lost all central vision. Upon going to the ER and many doctor appointments she was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration. This is definitely unusual since she is only 35. Since the 18th my very independent friend has lost all independence. The way she described it is like when you take a picture and the flash messes up your eyesight for a little. She is unable to see and finds difficulty  in doing basic things like pouring  her kids a cup of juice. Someone now has to drive her around and do everything for her. Uber rides to her weekly appointments are $70 round trip. It's taking a toll on the family. Her daughter cried the other day at school because the teacher asked why doesn't mommy help her with homewok. This new way of life will take adjusting but in the meantime expenses are piling up. To try and treat her disease the doctors want to do a series of 3 to 4 shots in her eyes. Each shot costs over 2000 and may not be covered by insurance. I am asking if anyone can find it in their heart to try and help my friend. One that has been there for me time and time again. One that works so hard to take care of her babies and now is confined to the house and unable to see. A little bit can go a long way. Thank you in advance.
