Please Help Single Mom Keep Home!

Update-- I have been given an Eviction notice & have to pay what I owe by September 10 or move out by September 15th. I am currently behind 4 months plus August & September. I still have not found a job and still have no vehicle. Any donations will help! I have no where to go if we get kicked out. This makes not having a job/vehicle that much more stressful. 

My name is Melissa. I’m a single mom with a 4yr old son, Nathan. I don’t typically ask for help, but I’m in a bad spot currently & not sure where else to turn. I have gotten help from family and friends and they have done all they can to help. I know things are tight for most families right now all that is going on in this world. I’ve posted my situation below. If you have it in your heart or know anyone that would be willing to help me try to get out of this hole I have fallen in, please donate! Any & all help is TRULY & GREATLY appreciated.

On 6/27/23, I was at work & received a phone call from CPS stating an anonymous call was placed on me & they needed to come to my home that day. I met with the case worker that day & she marked my home SAFE & stated she would make another visit in a couple of weeks as that is protocol. Unfortunately, I know it was a family member who called & why they would make things harder on me I do not know. I went back to work the next day. On 6/29/23, I was placed on administrative leave at work until further notice. On 7/6/23, as I pulled up to visit my grandpa who was on hospice & did not have much longer, I was called & informed I was being terminated. My vehicle broke down on 7/12/23 while I was on my way to the grocery store. I applied for unemployment and food stamps. Almost 2 months later, I was denied unemployment. I called DSS several times regarding food stamps with no answer & no return calls. It took over a month before I received a letter stating I was approved but the worker who did my case, apparently did not put it as emergency food stamps. So, therefore, I had to wait a whole month before I even got access to the funds.

So, now I’m almost 2 months with no income and no vehicle. My son is set to start Pre-K on 8/31/23. I still do not know how he will get to or from school. I can barely get rides to the store to get food. I have even had to cancel a doctor’s appointment to get myself checked out as I have been dealing with some pain the last couple of weeks & I really want to make sure it is nothing I need to be concerned about.

I was already behind on rent, lights, and a couple smaller bills prior to losing my job. This due to loaning a family member money & letting them stay with me for a few months. Promises to be paid back & no effort to pay me back. They currently owe me over $5000 for money borrowed and portions of bills when they lived with me. I wanted to help them out, but in turn I am now in a worse situation than what I was prior to losing my job. I know eventually I will be paid back, but currently that is not helping me.

My landlord has informed me that if I am unable to pay anything in the next week or so, he will evict us. I really do not want to lose my house. This was my mom’s house. She suddenly passed away 9/11/21 at 46yrs old. It is rent to own, comes with the land, & has a rent payment WAY cheaper than today’s rentals.
