Shelter for Sidney

Donation protected
To all my family & friends, and anyone who thinks you can't keep smiling in the worst of situations.

This is my friend Sidney he was born with cerebral Palsy some 50yrs ago. He was raised by his grandmother in Chattanooga, TN. Although confined to a wheelchair, Sidney's grandmother would not let him use his medical issues as an excuse to not succeed in school or life. After graduating High School he went out and got himself not 1 but 2 jobs! Sidney works at the Chattanooga City Hall and part time at the Majestic movie theater downtown. If you have been to eather place, you have most likely seen Sidney. When Sidney's grandmother passed he was unable to keep the family home and moved into a small apartment downtown. It was just shortly after moving into this downtown apartment in 2007 that Sidney started having serious medical issues. Because the apartment doorways are not wheelchair accessible he is forced to CRAWL from one room to the next, we are also told that the building he is in has BEDBUGS! In 2008 this caused Sidney to develop Lymphedema and Cellulitis, which is a serious life threating skin infection. This past summer he spent several weeks in the hospital and several more in a reabilitation hospital beacuse of the same issue.
Sidney is now back in his terrible apartment that he pays far to much for and back to working both jobs just to make ends meet.
My prayer to you- I along with a co-worker have taken Sidney under our wing, and want to help him move into a better and more accessible apatment. We are hopeful he will have a special home built for him by Habitat for Humanity someday, he is on the list but needs something now. I can assure you that Sidney is a real person, and Sidney is NEVER in a bad mood! He has never spent one momnet on self-pity, never blamed anyone for his handycap and has never asked for a handout. How much of a better person could we all be if we had just a small amout of Sidney's spirit and Faith in God. He always tells me that with God's Will this or that will be taken care of. A blessing is what he always tells us, his life is a blessing.
I would ask each of you reading this if you could share 1 small blessing to help Sidney you to will be blessed! A donation to help us move him into a better living space, one that is wheelchair accessible. We have found a place but need to raise enough for the deposit and first months rent along with new furniture and any household items he may need. Yes, there are programs that could possibly help him but he would be forced to quite his jobs. He loved to work and to interact with the public. Won't you give a few dollars, five, ten, even one will help? Maybe just maybe; it will be you that receives a blessing.
