Help save Ollie’s life

Donation protected
As many of you may have seen, my sweet boy was attacked by another dog. I adopted Ollie in august of 2021. He was skinny, his hair had been shaved from being matted, and he had such bad intestinal parasites it took 2 rounds of medication to clear them up. I struggle with anxiety and depression and he really helped dig me out of the deep dark hole I’d been struggling in for so long. He literally changed my life. He brought the light that I’d been missing for so long. He is still in the ICU and the bill is quickly adding up. Please feel free to share. Any help is greatly appreciated and means the world to me.

On Saturday May 8th, my sweet boy Ollie was attacked by a German Shepherd while visiting a friend in Ohio. Due to me having surgery in January and being off work for 3 months, I just returned to work at the end of April, so I am struggling to pay all the vet bills necessary to save my boy. I would hate to give up when he’s come this far. He’s already beat so many odds. His injuries are severe. He has a severe wound on his abdomen, right by his groin, that is so deep it nearly interfered with the urethra. They will have to amputate his penis and create a stoma that he will urinate out of.  There is so much necrotic tissue and infection they have been unable to close the wound. They plan on amputating his tail to use as skin graft to attempt to close the wound. They also had to amputate the left hind leg all the way up and including the hip joint because there was too much nerve and muscle damage to salvage it. They are also concerned about the extent of the injuries to his other hind leg. They had him on fluids, several medications, oxygen, and even blood products trying to stabilize his blood pressure, but with the amount of infection he had in his body, he was going septic and was also placed on antibiotics. After about a week in the ICU and being unsure if he’d make it, Ollie surprised everyone by getting up and walking by himself. While Ollie’s strong spirit and will to live has gotten him through the worst of it, his recovery is far from over. It is likely that it will take several surgeries and skin grafts to fully repair his wounds.

This dog has changed my life. He pulled me out of the dark hole I’ve spent so much of my life trying so desperately to claw my way out of. He brings joy to everyone he meets with his happy- go- lucky attitude and constantly wagging tail. He gets along with everyone, meeting them with a wagging tail and lots of kisses.

Any help is greatly appreciated and means the world to me. Please keep Ollie and I in your thoughts and prayers as we continue down this long road of recovery.

Much love,
Cynthia and Ollie
