Hello Dear Friends, Family, Neighbors,
I was first trying to help match this beautiful pup to a lost pet post I saw in Pawboost. Many animals are displaced from the city wide fireworks during the holidays so I was trying to help. I reached out on Nextdoor, Facebook, Pawboost, ,but I was unable to find his owner after different attempts.
Due kennel capacity limitations. Animal Care Services only allows 3 days to be rescued and by January 7th ACS planned to euthanize Theo ( now renamed to Thor).
I decided to adopt Theo. After the adoption was signed and paid for is when I learned Theo was picked up by Animal Care Services on January 3rd 2026 after a phone call was received that someone had seen an animal being hit by a car.
No X-rays were taken and this poor animal was clearly in extreme excruciating pain.
on Saturday, I took him to my vet and found out that there was no technician or doctor available. I then took him to the blue pearl Hospital and the hospital was closed. I went online to find out if The Ark Pet Hospital would take him and it was showing closed on Google. I was feeling desperate and thankfully found another vet veterinarian called city vet and they were closed. I decided to click on their website and they had a phone number for weekend hours and I decided to call for help . I learned that they had one doctor and one tech available so I rushed him there for help. After the x-ray, I learned that his fractures were worse than they expected. He is in intensive care right now. Catheter, IV fluids, the works hospitalization unable to move much. He is eating and has healthy stool. We renamed him Thor. He has been through so much pain. He has to stay with the vet to heal for several days was the plan to add screws. I learned today Monday January 12th that there is significant tissue damage on the proximal radius of the dog’s leg and it will have to be amputated.
I am absolutely devastated and crying.
The veterinarian said that he will do well being a small dog with three legs.
We have put a deposit down of $2,000.
I do not yet know what the cost will be for the amputation. I only have the initial estimate for what was supposed to be screws to the bones.
A close friend of mine helped me through this tough time with a phone call with major encouragement and knowledge sharing that she had learned online of a similar situation and the bill came out to $7, 000.
Will you kindly help us to provide with a portion of the Medical and veterinary care emergency? Anything helps. Even if it’s just a dollar.
Thank you so much for what you can give.
- Update : Thor was hit by a car. Dr. Estes told me that it looked like a bomb had gone off and they could not attach the broken bone because the proximal radius was severely damaged. They could not salvage his left front leg and they had to amputate it. .
we are going through the obstacles one day at a time.
Thank you for prayers and donations.
Vivian & family.
