My sister Shelley is on a journey. I am sooo very proud of who she is being, despite this unexpected twist of fate. She's a warrior Goddess...but still needs help and support.
Late last year (after being evacuated from the raging fires in Lake Tahoe) she decided to move back to our childhood home of Tampa FL. After settling in and getting her already disrupted life back on track, she got diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Already having gone through this 14 years ago and a survivor, the return of her breast cancer (this time in a more aggressive form) is scary for our whole family.
She will be having a double mastectomy at the end of the month and has already had endless doctors appointments, tests, surgeon consultations and has soooo many life changing decisions to make that I want to help relieve her emotional and financial stress with this fundraiser.
After the surgery she will be facing up to 6 weeks of recovery at minumum. We won't find out until she's on the table and the lymph nodes are biopsied whether or not she'll need chemotherapy. Her recovery could take many more months. She is going through some of the things we see on TV commercials for cancer patients, but don't seem real until they happen to you. It's a long road ahead and and that includes not only her physical and emotional health, but adding to her stress is her inability to pay her bills while recovering and not being able to work.
We are part of a very small family. I only have one sister, Shelley, and she has one daughter, Emma. And we are lucky to still have our mom, Cherie. But NONE of us live in Tampa. Mom and I are on the west coast and Emma is in Kansas City.
The funds raised will be for Shelley's rent and bills including medical co-pays and medications as well as paying for someone to care for her and her animals (she won't be able to shower, cook or walk her dogs and feed the cat, change the litter...you get the picture) and any flights for Emma and or other friends/relatives to get to Tampa to provide her support and care.
My sister is amazing and loves her life. She is the kind of friend you would want to have at a time like this if it was happening to you. She wouldn't have done this Go Fund Me on her own, so I'm doing it for her...
From the bottom of my heart, I humbly ask on behalf of my family and her friends that you share this link with all of YOUR friends and family. And please donate, even the smallest amount, in support of Shelley's recovery.
We all thank you and yours and wish you much joy and happiness as well as health and prosperity in your world! THANK YOU!!!
