Sunday August 1st I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed ready for all the new and exciting things this month had to offer. In a matter of hours that peace and excitement was replaced with fear and confusion when I received a phone call informing me that my dad had experienced a severe stroke and was being air lifted to Cottage hospital.
Due to the unexpected stroke a massive blood clot formed in his brain and he had to go under. After receiving brain surgery he was in a medical induced coma for 3 days. The longest emotional roller coaster my family and I were not prepared for. He suffered from extreme brain damage and remained in a coma throughout the week. Shortly after and we were faced with the scariest 3 words from the doctor “prepare for the worst” when his vitals began to crash. Very quickly I realized as a family we were about to have to make the hardest decision ever. One, keep dad hooked up to machines in a state in which no one should really be living in or let him go. In honoring my dad we sadly had to choose to let our strong guy go. Monday August 9th at 4:53 PM my dad peacefully passed away after being disconnected from life support at the age of 52. I myself still can’t believe it.
As a family we are scared, lost, mourning the loss of an amazing man who played a huge important role in our lives. He always had a saying “Crawford’s never give up” so with that we are fighting to remain strong and stand in spite of our fears with what comes ahead. Praying and remaining hopeful is what has kept us going. So many of you have reached out with prayers and positive words and we are forever thankful for that ❤️. I decided to start this go fund me for my family to help us cover everything form hospital bills, funeral expenses, and all of the daunting financial responsibilities that are shortly about to come. We are beyond grateful for any financial support we receive whether the goal is met or not ❤️.
Who is Keith Crawford? Let me proudly share...
Keith Crawford a son, a brother, a husband to my mama for 30 years, father of 2 (myself and my younger brother) and was one tough cookie who was and is still loved by many. He rocked the best mustache I’ve ever seen. He loved his 80’s classic rock, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and hands down the biggest sports fan EVER. With his goofy charisma and tender care no matter who you were he always made sure you were seen heard and cared for and if you were lucky he’d toss a peanut butter cup at you give you a horrible nick name and sent you on your way. He had the biggest heart.
The light at the end of the tunnel is that my dad was an Organ donor. After his passing he was able to save a life by donating his kidneys to a person in need.
