Help Peru Guide Elias Lazo become a shop keeper
Donation protected
My Name is Elías Lazo
I am from Perú and I am a official tourist guide in Perú. I have been working in Amazonas Explorer for 3 years. I have a son, Diego, who is 11 years old.
As a tour guide, I like to do a lot of outdoor activities. But now with Covid-19, everything has stopped which has been a big shock to us all.
So now it is time to do different things and I want to reinvent myself as a shop owner.
I have already started to work with another friend selling eggs, cheese, olives, etc, and now I want to improve my small shop selling the same things but I want also to sell dry fruits, fresh fruits, different types of flours, stews, spices and delicious local honey.
With $2000 (£1600) I plan to purchase raw products direct from the producers and stock up my shop so I can sell healthy products and so create a small business to support me and my son.
At least until this pandemic finishes, and then I can go back to work as a tourist guide as I have been doing before. And, when that happens, I will be delighted to show you round, show you Cusco, the Sacred Valley and of course Machu Picchu and maybe even take you to my shop!
If I keep both options open that will surely be a good idea as well.
Thank you very much.
Elias

How it works:
I, Paul Cripps, owner of Amazonas Explorer have agreed to help set up these Gofundme crowdfunding pages for my guides who are struggling to make ends meet whilst the tourism industry implodes in Peru. We hope it will be back one day soon, but for now, they need to reinvent themselves in order to feed their families.
The funds will be collected here in the UK into my account and then I will pay the exact equivalent in Peruvian soles from my Peruvian account into their personal accounts to minimise bank transfer fees and exchange rate fluctuations.
I will also personally contribute the first $150 of each proposal to help them get started. This will be donated directly into their accounts to avoid charges.
Our guides provide a big part of the magic of any trip to Peru and it is their personal touches, professionalism, wit and charm that makes each trip they guide unforgettable.
So, if you enjoyed your trip to Peru with one of our guides, please give what you can.
I know times are difficult everywhere but these guides are true heroes, their projects are borne out a desire to survive this pandemic and come out the other side better for the experience.
If you can't donate, please share and spread the word to help them achieve their goals.
Let me take this opportunity to thank you so much for anything you can do.
