My name is DeAn, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult times of my life. In April, my father, Dean Dickinson, became critically ill while visiting me in Playa del Carmen. He experienced severe internal and external bleeding, and I had to rush him to the hospital in a life-or-death race against time. Thankfully, after an intense battle, my father pulled through, but the cost of his medical care was overwhelming.
To save him, I had no choice but to max out four of my credit cards, totaling $25,000. The hospital bills were astronomical, and the debt I took on to cover them is now crushing me. With interest rates ranging from 25% to 29% on these cards, I’m drowning in debt and struggling to make ends meet. The weight of this financial burden is taking a heavy toll on my mental health, and it’s become nearly impossible to keep up with the payments.
I’m asking for help. I’ve exhausted every option I know, and the debt continues to spiral out of control. Any support, no matter how small, would mean the world to me and my family. Your generosity would not only help me stabilize my finances but also give me the breathing room I need to focus on moving forward, both for my father and for myself. Hi, my name is DeAn, and I'm reaching out from Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
Recently, my life changed in an instant. While my parents were visiting me, my father, Dean Dickinson, became critically ill in the middle of the night—at 2:30 a.m. last Sunday. He was experiencing severe internal and external bleeding, and I had to rush him to the emergency room in a desperate race against time.
Doctors immediately performed life-saving surgery and gave him eight units of blood. He spent three nights in the ICU. Thanks to the quick action of medical professionals and a lot of prayer, my father is now stable and beginning to recover.
But saving his life came at an enormous cost.
Unfortunately, my father's U.S.-based insurance (Medicare and a supplemental plan through Clear Spring Health) does not cover any medical expenses outside the United States. In order to get him immediate, life-saving care, I had no choice but to pay the hospital $25,000 USD upfront.
To make that possible, I maxed out every credit card I had and completely emptied my savings. Now, I find myself in a deeply vulnerable position—financially and physically.
You see, I was already preparing for surgery myself. I’ve been diagnosed with a mass on my left lung that requires urgent attention. The funds I had set aside for my own medical care are now gone.
So today, I'm humbly asking for help.
Your support will help cover my father’s hospital expenses and allow me to receive the surgery I urgently need. Every dollar—every share—truly matters more than I can say. If you’re able, please consider donating or spreading the word. Your generosity can bring healing and hope to my family during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting us.
With deep gratitude,
DeAn
