The family is no longer accepting donations. But their story can still be read!

As close friends do..... we come together to share some of the best of times, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays or each other's company. Recently, we were heartbroken to learn that with all the hard work this family puts in to accommodate their sons needs, and without complaint, I might add, they've been notified, that the state funds for a new van they were trying to obtain has been turned down while also being notified that mom has been diagnosis with cancer. Lately, some of us either know of someone who has or who has been touched by cancer in one form or another. After much consideration, the group wanted to start this page to help our very close and beloved family and friends while being discrete. Let me explain, while most of us have or have had our fair share of problems, this family seems to have been given more than their fair share. While living through the normal routines of family life on a day to day basis, they also care for a special needs son who is confined to a wheelchair. He has many medical needs and appointments that must be met. That's just the short of it. They also love to get him out onto the road to experience life's simple pleasures, whether it's a ride to the state park for a breath of fresh air or just a small road trip for a change of scenery. Their 1995 chevy van used to transport their son to accomplish this however, is in pretty sad shape with more than a few safety issues and a list of mechanical problems that need to be addressed to make it road worthy. They were in negotiations with the state to obtain funds to purchase a new van but learned they would only be allowed to refurb the old van. So the van would have to make the trip to a state authorized dealer to be evaluated for refurb work. After a long trip and three to four hours of inspections to determine the van's needs, it would be a few more weeks before that status was determined. After waiting a few weeks, the family was notified that the van is too far gone to consider it for refurb. So the family will be left with a drivable but unsafe vehicle and no money to purchase a new van and the choice to refurb is not an option with its vast list of problems. This page was created out of love and concern [by a special group of friends] in hopes that other friends and good natured people out there would help us with reaching our goal in getting this family a new van for their son's needs, while relieving them of some of the stressful news of a recent diagnosis. A donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated and we thank you in advance for your donation and support.
