Dearest Friends, Families, and Cherished Uptown Vocal Alumni,
For a quarter of a century, Columbia University's Uptown Vocal has wowed audiences far and wide with its unique musical style, original arrangements, and vibrant performance energy. Since 1991, these cool cats have been bringing new and interesting takes on all of your favorite jazz standards. We have performed on college campuses, bars, hotels, cruise ships, morning shows and have now sung at the White House not once, but twice!
This year marks the 25th Anniversary of Uptown Vocal, and as such we are celebrating the rich history and zoppity evolution of this group through many different events this spring. Firstly, we are in the midst of planning our biennial spring break tour, in which we will be traveling to different colleges in the Mid-Atlantic and Chesapeake Bay Area to share our music with other campuses and audiences. Secondly, we are continuing to record new tracks for our 7th and newest album (with an anticipated release date in Spring 2017)! Last, but certainly not least, we are planning a spectacular UV25 final concert for the evening of Friday, April 29th to celebrate not only our graduating seniors, but our plethora of extraordinary alumni and the musical family we've created over the years.
As many of you may know, tour and recording cost money that our meager budget from Columbia can’t cover. The entire semester will cost us over $2,000, on top of which we have ongoing costs such as posters, programs, and other final concert amenities. As such, UV needs your help! There is no way we can do this without you.
Please help UV as we gear up for an unforgettable anniversary. Any help you can offer us to reach this goal of $2000 would be greatly appreciated! No amount is too small. As a thank you for your generous donation, you will be recognized as benefactors of Uptown Vocal in our UV25 final concert program and rewarded with endless lUV.
