I'm Lynn, and I'm the mom to a beautiful, funny, intelligent, baby boy named Jaxon. He has been the love of my life since the moment I found him 5 years ago.
Yesterday I brought Jaxon into the vet because he all of a sudden became lethargic and not himself. He didn't want to eat or drink.
The vet did bloodwork and found out that his red blood cell count was down to 13%. The normal range is around 40%. He was severely anemic and in serious condition, and we were referred to an Emergency Veterinary Hospital where he is undergoing his first blood transfusion right now.
This is a horrible disease with a 70% mortality rate but my Jaxon is strong and I am fighting with everything I have to save his life.
His only chance are these blood transfusions that cost $4,800 each. We do not know why his body is attaching his own red blood cells. That's what IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia) does.
There is a 50-60% chance he will survive this and possibly go into remission, but he may need more blood transfusions and will need to be on immune-suppressing medication for months or even years.
I need help to save my baby boy. He is so young and has been the light in so many people's lives. He deserves to be happy and healthy again. Please help my Jaxon. I can't lose him!
