Help Bella get the surgery she needs!

Hello, friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share the story of our beloved Bella, our first family pet and cherished member of our family. Bella was born on June 13, 2022, and has brought so much joy to our lives with her sweet and loving nature. However, Bella is facing a serious medical issue that requires immediate surgery to ensure she can live a happy and healthy life.

Bella’s Condition: At just 10 months old, we started noticing that Bella’s bed was wet in the morning, and over time, she began dribbling urine throughout the house. After several visits to the vet and a series of tests, we were referred to UC Davis Veterinary Hospital, where an ultrasound revealed something rare and unprecedented: Bella has a double ectopic ureter on the right side. Ectopic ureters are an extremely rare condition in dogs, affecting only 0.016% to 0.045% of dogs. But what makes Bella's case even more unique is that she has two intertwined ectopic ureters on one side. The vets at UC Davis told us they had never seen anything like this before.

Why She Needs Surgery: Bella's condition is not only causing her to have bladder incontinence, but it also leads to frequent bladder infections, skin rashes, and ongoing discomfort. We have been managing her condition with diapers and medications, including Proin, which unfortunately didn’t provide a lasting solution. Without surgery, Bella’s health will continue to decline, and she will face even more severe complications in the future.

Our Situation: We are a young family — I’m 30, my husband is 31, and we have two children, a 7-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son. Like many families, we are struggling to come up with the necessary funds for Bella’s surgery, which is estimated to cost $8,100. We are doing everything we can to make ends meet, but this amount is far beyond what we can afford on our own.

Why Bella Means So Much to Us: Bella isn’t just a pet; she is one of our babies. She is a playful, affectionate, and gentle soul who adores attention, especially from the kids. When it’s time to pick them up from school, Bella’s excitement is undeniable — her little body wiggles with joy, and she eagerly runs to the door. She loves unconditionally and has brought so much light and laughter into our home. Bella deserves to live a full, healthy life, and we want to do everything we can to make sure she gets the care she needs.
