I was diagnosed with Stage 4 squamous cell cancer of the tongue in mid October 2016. Having recently had a partial glossectomy (over half) of my tongue removed and a total neck dissection with removal of lymph nodes from both sides of my neck. I was hospitalized for 19 days and had 5 surgeries. Two of them were emergency surgeries to deal with excessive bleeding. I also have a PEG tube installed since I am unable to swallow at the moment. I am due to have 7 weeks of IMRT radiation therapy five days a week along with 3 rounds of Cisplatin chemotherapy at 21 day intervals.
