Dawn’s Fight Against Rare Cancer: Every Moment Counts
The Fundraiser
When Gareth from GB Enterprise Solutions heard Dawn's story he instantly wanted to do something to help raise money towards the funds that Dawn urgently needs.
He and his cycling friends (Ant Hullah & Jamie Ashworth from T12 - Body Transformation Centre Blackpool) have come up with a huge challenge to cycle from Glasgow Central to Blackpool Tower totalling a whopping 338km on Saturday 14th October in order to raise the desperately needed funds for Dawn.
Here's where we need your support, every donation, no matter how small, will bring Dawn and her family closer to giving Dawn the best shot at a cancer free life and achieving her 55k goal. This treatment is her fighting chance and we are not willing to let cancer write Dawns story.
The Journey So Far
Dawn was diagnosed early this year with a fibroid that led to post-menopausal bleeding. She encountered lengthy delays but eventually was told that she needed a full hysterectomy to remove an unusually large fibroid. After the surgery, a biopsy revealed the devastating news: the fibroid was actually a rare and aggressive form of cancer called leiomyosarcoma.
The Moment Feared
Following this diagnosis, Dawn was scheduled for radiotherapy in London to ensure that no cancer cells remained. However, before the treatment could begin, further scans revealed that the cancer had returned to her pelvic area and spread to her lungs. She was told that the conventional path of radio and chemotherapy would only slow the cancer down for a time, and that it would eventually kill her.
A Ray of Hope: Brio-Medical
Rather than the family & Dawn resigning themselves to this grim prognosis, they started exploring alternative therapies like immunotherapy and cell therapy. Their search led them to Brio-Medical, a U.S.-based retreat that offers a 7-week, integrative cancer treatment (Brio-Medical). Here, Dawn will be in an environment focused solely on fighting cancer. The family have spoken to the company and heard a number of encouraging success stories.
The Cost
The cost of this life-saving treatment is $13,333.33 per week. Brio-Medical offers a discounted rate for the full 7-week program at $68,000, approximately £55,000. This is the amount the family are trying to raise.
Thank you for taking the time to read Dawns story, and for any support you can offer. Let's beat this cancer once and for all.
