Hi my name is Wellington Saunders and I thank you for taking the time to read this. In June of 2018 I missed work due to severe abdominal pain and multiple other issues. After a week of no progress I had to fly into Nassau for further medical treatment. It took another week to find out I had Severe Ulcerative Colitis!
Simply put, Colitis is basically inflammation in the colon. I've been in and out of hospitals over the past year and have been to four different doctors both domestic and internationally at the Cleveland Clinic, who are the leaders in the study of Colitis. Dr Harold Munnings, my Gastroenterologist in Nassau has been spot on with the way I've been taking treatment however my case might just be a unique one. We recently decided to go back to the Cleveland Clinic. My future medical treatment plan has yet to be determined, however thus far this has greatly affected me financially, physically and emotionally.
With all of this going on, I have been extremely limited in my ability to work consistently at my job at Odyssey Aviation. While they have been very understanding with time off and helping me continue with my insurance, I’ve had no real source of income and this obviously can’t go on too much longer. Once I get my treatment plan situated, I will certainly do all that I can to obtain some work that does not challenge me physically until I can continue working in the career that I have passion for.
As you can Imagine, I have racked up medical bills in excess of $15,000, with no ability to pay. Of course I also have my own personal living expenses and caring for my three beautiful daughters! Now I am faced with the prospect of continued treatment (which is extremely expensive even after insurance) and/or surgery! I thought it best to start reaching out for help, even though I don’t know exactly what my future holds medically but before I get too far gone financially.
I am a proud man and a hard worker and don’t relish in the idea of asking for help, but I have come to realize there may be no other option for my girls and I at this point. If you feel moved to contribute anything at all to my fund, we would be forever grateful. I would also very much appreciate it if you felt comfortable sharing with your friends and family.
