Karen is suffering from a rare form of pancreatic cancer. Our family suffers from Lynch Syndrome which means we are missing a repair gene and more susceptible to Cancers. Karen has been through colon cancer, skin cancer and now fighting nuero-endicrine pancreatic cancer which can be beat. Currently I too am fighting Colon cancer which limits my abilities financially and personally. She has health insurance, but has lost her job and will likely never work again. She lives alone now as she has for the prior ten years, before our beloved brother and son, Blue, passed away from brain cancer in 2005. As a family we are doing our best to give Karen what she needs at this time. She has a chance to survive and thrive as we move forward with treatments and we are seeing progress. She is home now, cared for by in home care, friends and family members. However, as the battle continues into the new year, we will face a new medical deductable, various equipment, travel, and medical expense in addition to ongoing living expenses.
