The photo is of the sun at 2 pm in Chico, CA. This is what the air is like even some distance from the fires that have devastated Butte County and the town of Paradise. It's hazardous to step outside without a respirator and people are being advised NOT to venture out unless it's essential.

Among those left without homes are some of my family members and many of their friends and neighbors. Although insurance will help rebuild, they have immediate needs -- some have to pay for lodging, and all need to purchase basics that they had to leave behind, from clothes and shampoo to toys for the kids and food for their pets. 

I have no idea how much money will be needed, but $5000 is a start to help many families in this difficult time. The federal government has not yet (as of 11/12) even issued a disaster declaration. People can't get to their neighborhoods yet to find out if they have anything left of their homes. 

Any contributions will help and be greatly appreciated. You can be assured that every penny raised will go to help the residents of Butte County, CA, begin the long road to recovery from this tragedy.
