Mom and I need help

Hello, my name is Josh in case you don’t know me already. 6 years ago my stepfather died abruptly from an aortic aneurysm leaving my Mother with hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt. It’s been a struggle, but we’ve been able to manage it together. The situation has changed and it has gone from rough to untenable.

Over the last sixth months I have been taking care of my mother, Nancy, as her health has been declining due to end stage emphysema and multiple strokes that have made it impossible for her to take care of herself as she once did. Over that time frame and still ongoing she has required special doctors and treatments to help keep her alive and comfortable in her own home, the one place she feels most safe. Rising healthcare costs, limitations with Medicare, and regular day to day bills including her mortgage have reached a boiling point. She cannot afford a 24/7 nurse to care for her so I am taking care of her full time and cannot work because of her ongoing need for constant care. She is on a low fixed income that is barely covering basic necessities and my own personal savings are completely depleted now. We’re not the kind of people to ask for a handout, but it’s officially beyond what we can financially handle. My goal in creating this go fund me is two fold. Most importantly I’m hoping to raise enough funds to get some major bills covered, for example a hospital bill with a balance of $12,000, a property tax bill of over $5000 and a homeowner’s insurance bill that was just raised to $10,000 a year. This doesn’t even include the bill for her most recent hospital stint which was 4 weeks and included 2 surgeries and intense inpatient physical therapy. The secondary reason I’ve started this go fund me is to help reduce my Mom’s anxiety caused by all of these added financial stresses so that she can stay calm and comfortable at home.
